Purpose

The Bucket Trommel consists of a cylindrical sieve that fits within a standard five-gallon bucket. During use, raw ore is added to the sieve, and the device is placed in a bucket of water. The handle is then swirled back-and-forth like a washing machine to wash small particles out of the sieve, while larger material and rocks remain behind. The large material is discarded. The captured material in the bucket is then ready to pan or sluice. With the Bucket Trommel, you can now process 10x the amount of ore than with current methods being used today.

Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Chad R. Smith of Redding, CA has created a new device to clean and classify gold ore.

Since gold went over $1,000 an ounce and all motorized forms of gold prospecting are banned, Chad knew there needed to be a more efficient way to get gold. The Bucket Trommel is his solution.

But how does it work? The invention consists of a cylindrical sieve that fits within a standard five-gallon bucket. Now you can now process 10x the amount of ore than with current methods being used today!
